Hepatitis B PCR Hepatitis B is a virus which causes inflammation of the liver cells (hepatocytes). It is transmitted by sex, or by blood to blood contact between people, such as via a needlestick injury. The infection may be cleared by the body's immune system, or it can persist and become chronic, meaning the individual is at risk of infecting other people. This test looks for the presence of DNA from the hepatitis B virus, and will report whether it was detected or not.
Hepatitis C PCR Hepatitis C is a virus which causes inflammation of the liver cells (hepatocytes). This test looks for the presence of RNA from the hepatitis C virus, and will report whether it was detected or not.
