HIV Tests

HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, currently affects around 90,000 people in the UK. It is difficult to diagnose without an HIV test as initial short-term symptoms can be confused with flu-like illnesses. After this, HIV may cause no further symptoms for several years; it is thought that around a quarter of the people living with the virus are unaware of their HIV status. A simple HIV test is recommended for everyone.

About HIV Tests

Our tests are 100% confidential and results will not be passed on to your GP unless you request it.

We can provide different types of HIV test depending on how long post-exposure, meaning there is no reason to endure an agonising wait to find out your status. All of our HIV tests are very accurate, and results will be available to you between 1 and 3 working days depending on the type of test ordered.

Over the last two decades the effectiveness of HIV treatment has hugely increased, and is more effective the sooner treatment is started; with early intervention the majority of HIV positive people can expect to have an almost normal life span.

Why have an HIV test?

Our HIV tests are for individulas who are worried that they may have been exposed to the HIV virus, either through unprotected sexual activity, or through the use of a shared needle or exposure to blood or other bodily fluids that can transmit the infection. In addition, some occupations require pre-employment testing and some countries require testing as part of the visa application process.
