Gamma GT or Gamma-glutamyl transferase is an enzyme that occurs in liver cells.
A high Gamma GT level is particularly associated with heavy alcohol drinking. The liver breaks down and clears alcohol from the body and Gamma GT is involved in the process.
DVLA / Drink Drive
Normal Gamma GT ranges vary, however the DVLA upper limit is 50 IU/L. The DVLA also use another liver function test called ALT. The upper limit for this is 40 IU/L.
We will send you your gamma gt blood test sample collection kit together with the details of a convenient clinic where you can go and have your sample taken.
