FAQs

What does leptin do?

Leptin communicates directly with your brain, telling it how much fat is in storage. It controls appetite, energy and metabolic rate. Insufficient leptin can cause a persistent sensation of hunger. It also helps calorie intake and calorie burning.

What can I learn from a leptin test?

Our Leptin Blood Test may indicate why you have constant problems controlling your weight. If you lose and gain weight only to revert to the same size, you may have a problem with your leptin levels. This particular test comes with reference ranges for people with a body mass index between 18 and 37. If your body mass index is outside this range, we cannot supply a reference range with your result.

What is leptin?

Leptin is a hormone produced by fat cells and is an important component in the long-term regulation of body weight.
