Diabetes tests and diabetes screens are for people with a family history of diabetes, from those who have a high risk of developing diabetes such as the middle aged, overweight and with high cholesterol, to those who have been diagnosed and are wanting to monitor their diabetes more closely.
Diabetes affects about 8% of the population. It often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless. Recent studies indicate that the early detection of diabetes symptoms and treatment can decrease the chance of developing the complications of diabetes.
A simple glucose test (blood sugar test) will aid in the diagnosis of diabetes.
